Plasticity Sydney

Sydney, Australia

Monday, 30 October 2017

Thanks to everyone who made 9th Plasticity Forum in Sydney a great success. This was Australia's first big conference on plastic pollution issues, and solutions, in coordination with Boomerang Alliance's three day event.  Plasticity is unique globally, in its focused discussion on the future of plastic sustainability and movement of this material into the circular economy.  Participants heard from experts who are innovating and creating scalable solutions, across much of the spectrum of the plastic space, which is very relevant for brand owners, marketing managers, designers, engineers, or other stakeholders in companies and governments who want to know how to get ahead in this space in terms of plastic pollution reduction.

Two solutions unveiled at the Plasticity Forum were related to plastic offset programs, and the first in the world of their type with in the layout and design of the offsets vs. different types of plastic uses.  The Plastic Neutral certification by Australian social enterprise Plastic Collective, and the world’s first Plastic Offset Programme (POP) developed by Thailand-based surfboard manufacturer Starboard, offer a way for businesses which use plastic to support efforts to solve the global plastic pollution problem.  Each of these use the Plastic Disclosure Project (PDP) as the main methodology for measuring their plastic use.  More information can be found here.
