Sustainable Plastics - Challenges and Opportunities
Credit Suisse Theater - ICC Building, Hong Kong
Friday, 9 May 2014
This briefing provides an important update on new initiatives and research in sustainable plastic use. Speakers will share valuable insights on the importance of reporting and corporate best practices vis-à-vis plastic.
Every year, almost 300 million tons of plastic are produced globally, yet estimates suggest that only 10% is ever recycled. In Hong, over 2.5 million plastic bottles are sent to landfill daily, exacerbating the city’s “waste crisis.” Minimizing and capturing this waste stream presents a significant, yet largely untapped business opportunity.
Plastic that doesn’t make it to landfills winds up in our countryside, rivers and oceans, where it remains for decades, to the detriment of the environment and society. The external costs of plastic waste increasingly pose risks to companies.
Join us to ‘learn from the experts’ about how you can mitigate plastic risks and capture business opportunities.
